On the morning of December 13th, an unusual light slipped into Santa's workshop.
A soft, golden, silent light, like a miniature aurora laid upon the snow.
The portal opened before Pipette even touched the tablet.
And what the elves discovered then left them speechless.
They saw a long human procession advancing in the twilight.
Children dressed in white, holding candles in their hands.
A young girl crowned with light walked at the head, as calm as a star that had taken human form.
Behind her, voices rose.
Claires.
Pure.
Carrying through the air a song that seemed to awaken the night itself.
Pipette felt her heart gently tighten.
— “It’s magnificent…” she murmured, her eyes shining.
Ludo was almost trembling.
— “It’s like human magic… but gentle… not noisy. As if it just stayed there, in the chest.”
Even Groubelin, usually so rational, could no longer speak.
— “It’s as if the light came from them… not just from their candles.”
Rudolf stepped forward, captivated by the scene.
— “Saint Lucia. In Sweden, people walk like this to remind us that even in the darkest night… the light returns. They carry flames, sing songs… and eat golden buns shaped like light.”
At that same moment, a scent wafted through the gate.
A whiff of saffron and warm butter.
The smell of lussekatter wafting through Swedish kitchens at dawn on December 13th.
The elves inhaled deeply.
The procession was still moving forward when, in a corner of the scene, a reflection caught their attention.
The flames reflected off a cap placed on a human table.
A simple hat, made of light wool.
Not magic.
Not valuable.
But gentle.
Comforting.
Sincere.
Pipette felt an intuition brush against her.
— “Perhaps we should follow the light of humans… not just that of hats.”
Rudolf nodded slowly.
— “Today, humans are showing us the way:
the interior light,
the warmth of the hands,
the gentleness carried into the night.
The portal vibrated slightly, as if that light had been woven for them.
And for the first time, the elves understood that the answer didn't come solely from magic…
but of the light that humans know how to create together.
